25th Anniversary AGM – 21st March 2018

This Probus Social club for retired and semi-retired Professional and Businessmen was founded in March 1993 as a result of an initiative by Harrogate Brigantes Rotary Club. At the Club’s AGM on March 21st, the 25th anniversary was celebrated with a few speeches and a buffet meal at our regular venue, the Oatlands Mount Club, HG2 8BU.

David Clayden, the current Club President, Mike Bevington, a Rotary initiator of the Club’s foundation, Brian Bebbington, a founder and current member of the Club, and Councillor Christine Willougby, the Deputy Mayor of the Borough of Harrogate, all spoke of the Club’s origins and value.

Also present at the event were the current Presidents of the two other Harrogate Probus clubs, founded subsequently – Margaret McInerney of the Harrogate Stray Probus club and Bettie Mallinson of the Harrogate Women’s Probus Club.

Of the original 54 Club members, 10 are still involved with the club – and its current membership of 68 attests to the club’s ability to attract new members as well as retaining long standing members.
