On January 2nd 2019, Tony Mallett gave a talk entitled ‘Inspirational Leads’. Tony had been a schoolteacher for 25 years, with a strong interest in inspiring children to be creative and innovative in their thinking. Living overlooking Leeds Bradford Airport he also had a passion for flight and airports and wanted to ‘follow his dream’. Tony related his personal story in which he first made opportunities to provide the schoolchildren in his charge with access to LBA’s facilities, then wrote about it in Airport magazines and networked furiously – attempting to understand and bring innovation to the airport experience. He left teaching and setup a company that advises companies and individuals on how to take risks, follow their passions and change their lives.
Tony presented a fascinating, optimistic, multimedia, exhausting, story of positivity and purpose, challenging the members present to live the risk and develop themselves further, whatever their age. Some questions and lots of interesting discussion followed.
