On January 5th, Carol Tetlow gave us a talk on “Stethoscope Secrets “.

Carol described some of her 30 years’ experience as a partner in a large Harrogate General Practice. Her fascinating and beautifully presented talk demonstrated the variety of human and medical situations she encountered – a rich mixture of the comic, the exciting, the banal and the tragic. She had clearly loved her working life, but felt that GPs today had a less satisfying role, with less cradle to grave contact with individual patients. They now had to deal with much better-informed patients with multiple health problems who had greater expectations of their GP.

The talk produced many interesting questions from members.
