Talk on 20th February 2019

On February 20th Jeff Heenan, a Probus member, talked to us about his time with The Welsh Guards Association and with the Prison Service. Jeff, who was born in Wales, spent six years with The Welsh Guards, then some time in jobs including driving an ambulance in Liverpool and a double decker bus in London. After this he joined the Prison Service where he spent 9 years in various roles including being Prison Governor. Jeff valued the comradeship in both the Armed Forces and the Prison Service, and talked about the importance of rehabilitation for prisoners – in spite of the considerable resources required to support this. Since retirement Jeff remains involved in national and local community organisations including Victim Support and the Church Lads’ Brigade.
