Meeting point and time: Brearton, about 200m west of the Malt Shovel pub (HG3 3BX), 09:45 for a 10:00 start

Route:  A relatively easy-going circular walk, taking in the villages of Brearton, Scotton and Lingerfield, with a break at an attractive ponded nature reserve. It is on generally level ground, albeit probably a little muddy in places, and with 5 stiles that are all in good condition. The length is approximately 4 miles.

Lunch venue:  The Inn at South Stainley, at approx 1245.
