Talk on 19th February 2020

On February 19th, Greta Knight talked to us about “Southampton to Cape Horn”. Her subject was the first half of a mammoth circular SAGA cruise that she took from the UK to the Falklands (and back). The 43 day cruise took in so many places, and Greta showed us slides from some of them – including the Caribbean, Colombia, the Panama Canal, Peru and Chile, finishing up at Punta Arenas at the tip of South America. Her quirky slides included some of the local wild life (iguanas and vultures), local people, the colonial architecture and a deserted town in a remote Andean desert. As one of our Probus members was taking a similar cruise in the near future, Greta’s advice on wardrobe requirements was to take lots of clothes suitable for the full range of climates encountered!
