The walk is in the rolling countryside between Spofforth and Sicklinghall, half of it on routes new to the group and other half on a familiar track. The total length is 4 miles, there are 6 stiles, and most is on field paths, farm tracks and quiet country lanes; however, there is a quarter-mile in Spofforth along the busy Wetherby road and another quarter-mile along the road through Sicklinghall.
We will start and finish at the car park of the Castle Inn in Spofforth, where we will also have lunch. Meet in the car park at 0945 for a 1000 start, and lunch will be at 1300. IMPORTANT NOTE FOR THE DRIVERS: THE Castle now has a controlled parking system so, when you arrive, you need to go in the main entrance and enter your car’s registration into the terminal on the reception desk.
